Everald Palmer, 28, remained held in the Bergen County Jail on Friday, Feb. 17, following a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on charges of sexual assault by a supervisory adult and child endangerment.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said members of his Special Victims Unit arrested Palmer on Monday after New Milford police alerted them to a single alleged incident that he said occurred in town.

Paterson Schools Supt. Eileen Shafer said Eastside Principal Edgard Nieves, Security Director Dalton Price and Security Supervisor Robert Silva helped investigators arrest him.

Shafer didn't elaborate, but she did confirm that the alleged victim is a student at the school.

Palmer, formerly of Englewood, worked for a private firm that contracted with the school district. He was dismissed last week for what authorities at the time described as "inappropriate conduct."
